I went to a Block Party last night...

Hubby and I saw this movie last night. It was awesome... but wait... it won't be awesome to you unless you love conscious hip-hop. This block party had the likes of Erykah Badu, Dead Prez, Jill Scott, Kayne West, The Roots, Talib Kwali, Mos Def, Fugees and Lauryn Hill... to name a few. This movie was like a concert/documentary. Erykah Badu (one of my favs) was awesome, she was performing on stage and a big wind caught her and blew her humongous afro wig off! But she kept singing! Kayne and Common performed... Black Star... Dave even had a marching band perform too. His behind the scene antics were hilarious. The coolest thing is that the performers were all political/conscious black rappers/singer. And I loved that! They all made statements, some understated and some overstated. Hubby and I were singing the songs we knew in the theatre out loud along with the movie! Thank goodness there were not many people in there with us. All and all I say go see this if you like any of the artists I mentioned above. Do not go to this movie expecting to see Dave Chappelle do characters from his old show. This is about music, laughs and positive message.

You are one lucky girl...all my faves in one concert. Common, yes ma'am I love that man! Sounds like it was a HOT concert!
